We’ve talked about waste compactors in our previous blogs, but sometimes it’s good to go back to basics and cover the little things, like recycling bins and processes around the office.
Something as simple as a recycling bin can make a big difference when it comes to your workplace waste management and caring for the environment.
Getting StartedFirst of all, your managers need to be on board, as well as anyone else involved in the running of your space, such as your waste service provider and cleaners. For a recycling program to work, everyone has to be on the same page.
From there, staff need to be equipped with the knowledge to recycle correctly. It’s not always obvious what does and does not go in the recycling bin, so education is key, but we also recommend installing visual aids like recycling Do’s and Don’ts and other easy to follow infographics like these by Pioneer Group, which can be customised to further suit your needs.
Remember to also let your staff know why recycling matters and the environmental impacts your recycling program will have.
Accessibility and LocationFor your recycling program to be successful, you need to ensure that everyone can easily find, access and operate (open and close) the bins.
There are lots of internal recycling bins to choose from, including portable bins with handles, so you can choose the perfect fit for your office, according to things like materials, colours, and height.
